    The DEEP Project Fundraiser

    Donate to the fundraiser

My name is Hina Mistry, a graduate of Biomechanical Engineering and an active volunteer with The DEEP Project Initiative – an initiative dedicated to reaching out to underserved and unreached communities in Africa and across the globe. The first pilot is set to be initiated in Nigeria.

My DEEP story begins with meeting Olumuyiwa Omole through Open Biomedical Initiative. We worked on a 3D printed prosthetic foot project with a diverse team from India, Italy, and America. As a team, we gave the project the name RAM (Rise And Move). It is an open 3D prosthetic foot design that is meant to be affordable and accessible to all people around the world.

I took my working relationship further with Olumuyiwa by partnering with him as regards being one of the Lead Volunteers for The DEEP Project Initiative in the areas of Innovative Technology, Education and Health together with Kapil Panchal of India and Andrew Weppner of Australia. Although DEEP Project is relatively new, I am positive that it would bring the change needed in the unreached and underserved communities, especially in Africa.

Presently, DEEP Project’s collaboration with Global Print initiative , USA has led to the design and fabrication of a 3D Printer by Gabriel Medina who is the Lead Designer and President of the same organization. The cost of production of the 3D Printer is $280USD and it is packaged to be shipped to Nigeria where DEEP Project physically operates.

The idea is to use this printer to produce as many prosthetic designs courtesy of OBM and also to produce more G-Print Box Printers designed by Gabriel Medina of GPI. The 3D printer is meant to be used solely in the area of Educational Technology so as to stir up the creativity in the communities reached by the initiative.

Presently, DEEP and GPI are encountering the financial constraint of shipping the packaged 3D Printer from Greenville, Texas where GPI is based to Ibadan, Nigeria where the DEEP Project operates from. The cost of shipping and other miscellaneous fees have been calculated to be $500 USD (which converts approximately to $700CDN).

All that is needed is a donation worth of $500USD for the purpose of shipping the 3D Printer on time for DEEP’s Project’s pilot in Nigeria.

On the alternative, we would be glad if anyone can help with the responsibility of receiving the package and send it directly to Nigeria. We are equally open to all other alternatives that would ensure that the 3D Printer is delivered to The DEEP Project Initiative in Nigeria.

    Thanks

    The Little Beginning

It all begins during my stay in a village called Okuzzu as National Youth Corp Member where I serve as a mathematics teacher in a secondary school. I realized that the children and youths have little or no meaning ful access to standard and quality education.
Then I thought that there should be a systemized educational system or platform created with the aim of reaching out to students in unreached and underserved areas; a system that will expose them to both vocational and formal education.

This is why we have been burdened to start-up
The DEEP Project Initiative; gearing towards unearthing values and potentials in individuals, communities, and giving them space and platform to explore these values and potentials as they are being refined and empowered towards a noble and beneficial for themselves and the society at large.

Although everyone is the same by nature, nurture differs especially in terms of
Discovery, Education, Exposure and Projection. Our belief is that despite diverse backgrounds and multiplicity of differences, everyone is valuable as much as the next person.

As part of The DEEP Project’s endeavour to even out nurture, A Educational Pilot Project has been initiated and it simply entails syncing/combining vocational and formal education in the bid to reach out to kids/youths that do not have means to complete their secondary education or failed in one way or another to proceed to post secondary institutions.
And to show our commitment to evening out nurture, we are planning to explore the enormous possibilities of the use of 3D Printer called G-Print Box built for us by Global Print Initiative through Gabriel Medina.

Our location for this Pilot project is
Community Basic School, Oyalami in Ibadan, Nigeria. As the name of the initiative implies, our focus is to reach each individual and community from the core which is why we have decided to use an existing centre for education as the operating base.

We are sharing this information with you and we will continue to do so until you decide otherwise because you have shown interest in this initiative with keen willingness to work with us or to be updated about its progress.
This is our little beginning and we are glad you are riding with us to reach the desired destination!

    Welcome News 15/3/2017
I am happy to introduce to you "The DEEP Project" - a new open-international and project-based initiative geared towards the use of Education [Health and Technology] to improve quality of living among individuals (12-20 years of age) that are unreached, underserved.

The Initiative is focused towards embarking on Educational Project that involves implementation of a new educational system that combines Conventional Educational Curriculum with the Technical Education Curriculum so as to help kids who do not have the resources to continue their educational pursuit or failed in the pursuit.

The aim of the project is to start an Educational/Facility Centre for empowering them with vocational skills for SUFFICIENCY and formal education for the purpose of INNOVATION and excellent COMMUNICATION of their created values all across the world. The beauty of this is that the students would later be the Administrators and Teachers running the Centre which is in a bid to ensure SUSTAINABILITY.

This is to anyone or organization interested in partnering with us as we are poised to going DEEP to bringing out values in the lives of those who are forgotten and underserved by the society.

The DEEP Project is in its modeling stage but we welcome those who are willing to establish this model in their localities towards subsequent pilot stages.

    UNEARTH, EXPLORE!
